How to install the Funeral Script PHP
Setting MySQL database
Funeral Script PHP requires PHP 4.3 or higher and MySQL 3 or higher to run on your server - ask your hosting provider about PHP / MySQL versions.
Before starting the installation you will need to create your database:
- Open the control panel(cpanel) of your hosting account.
- Find where to create MySQL database.
- When you create your database you will need to supply a Database name, Database user and Database password. You will aslo need to know the database server name — usually 'localhost'. Save all these details on your local machine for future reference on something such as Notepad.
- If you use your hosting account's 'CPanel' to create your database you must set Privileges to ALL for the Database user.
- If you have problems with creating database - ask your web hosting company - normally they provide 24h email, phone or chat free support.
Unzip or unrar, upload and install
- Unzip the .zip file received from us. You can use programs such as Winzip, Winrar, or Stuffit Expander (Mac). They have all have trial versions.
- Next, upload all files to your website. You can either upload the complete folder (named "SCRIPTFOLDER") or you can upload all the files individually to a folder you created in the root directory of your website.
- Next step is to run the installation file:
http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/SCRIPTFOLDER/installation.php.
- Installation wizard will ask you to complete the form below:

- Click on the link - 'Login here', which will redirect you to the administrator login form.
How to use the Funeral Script PHP
Enter Admin username and password that you set earlier

When you login, you will see the administration area -> Obituary Entry List(it will be empty after the initial install).

Create Obituary. You can create new obituaries from main menu 'Obituaries' -> 'New Obituary Entry'.
At the top of the ''New Obituary Entry' form you will see the Status of the obituary where you can choose between Published and Hidden.
You need to fill the Name of Deceased, Summary and Content (with text editor) fields.
Below you can upload a photo and choose where it will appear (left, right, top or bottom in the content) as well as the size of the photo (in pixels).
Enter the Date of Death of the deceased.
You have the option to allow comments on the Guest Book with the checkbox at the bottom of this page.
Note that if you create Editors (from menu 'Editors'->'Create Editor'), you will be able to assign author/editor of the entry.

Obituaries Entry List. Here you can see the obituary entries ordered by date of death.
You have the option to order them by title, date published, status, category, editor (author) and reviews.
Also you can preview, edit and delete obituaries.

GuestBook. On this page you are able to approve, edit or delete comments of the obituaries.

Obituaries Editors. You can have unlimited number of non-administrative content editors.
Also, you can set a direct link to 'Editor Login' — much like the admin login, but used for editors/authors.

Obituary Options. You can set the number of obituaries per page.
You are able to choose 3 different ways to display the obituaries listing on your webpage (Only Names, Names and Summary, and Full Entry).

GuestBook Options. Be sure to set the administrator email address where you will receive the notifications for the new comments.
If the checkbox for 'Approval' is checked, new comments will be published only if they are approved.
You can set the order of the comments from the 'Comments order'.
Another option is to select the captcha image and also theme of the captcha.
You can check the html tags that you allow to be posted in comments.
Also you have text field for comments banned words. The words must be comma separated (word1,word2,word3,…etc). The list of words are NOT case sensitive.

Put on Webpage. You can choose one of two ways to put the obituaries listing on your website.

Then copy the code, go to your page and paste between <body>code</body> tags. If you choose the second install option you will need to put this line of code <?php session_start(); ?> at the top of the php page (first line).
